This has been a nice relaxing vacation that for sure. Today we had no agenda so I suggested we go up to Mount Lemmon - one of the peaks in the pictures we are taking.
There are two ways of doing this. By foot and a 6+ mile hike from Catalina State Park or by car and the Catalina Highway. This goes through the Coronado National Forest. Up a mountain. See the path here.
The highest point is over 8000' ft up. So the temps went from 89 when we started to 58 at the top. The air was a bit thinner too. I ran a little and man, it took me longer than usual to catch my breath. What was also amazing are the people to were biking up and down the this road. That must be an incredible workout. Many of these people are flying down hill, pedaling too! Makes me feel like a complete couch potato that's for sure.
On the way down we stopped at several scenic look outs and took lots of pictures.

On a ledge, with the valley floor and more mountains behind us.
The sky was a little moody on the one side and sunny on the other.
The Arizona Trail. Now I can actually say I hiked part of it. What is it? A trail over 800 miles that stretches from the Mexico/Arizona border all the way through the Grand Canyon and into Utah. Basically a north to south trail through Arizona. Read about it here
Of course there are a ton more photos to look at - just click the slideshow at the top right of the blog. or use this link here
We got back, had a little lunch, went to the pool. Later that evening we went out for Pizza at Grimaldi's an excellent pizza place that uses coal fired brick ovens. Oh yea, being good fans also watched the Packer preseason game. Our time here is winding down. Only 2 more days. Whats next?
