As much as we like the desert southwest it was time to turn this train around and make the trek back home.
Today was going to be full day that's for sure. Packed up and ready to go we head East. First stop Tombstone. Yep where the real wild west was born. Lawlessness abounded back in the 1860's to 1890's.
Some old historic buildings, old time photos, gun fights, period era costumes. Like the Dells but at one time for real.
We decided to hit the real deal the actual Tombstone courthouse. An actual state park. The original building. I know, what dad forces the kids into TWO museums in TWO days on vacation. Yea I'm that guy.

So much history in the building, lot's of walking and a lot of reading. But so interesting. I am going to start looking for books on the era and area for more relaxed and in depth history. Of course I also told everyone that the 1993 movie was required watching. It actually followed a lot of what was actual history. The Wyatt Earp story.
Back in the van and leaving Arizona and off to New Mexico. Were too now, a water park? something fun after all the learning right. Nah. Lets keep it real. White Sands National Monument. No one ever heard of it before I mentioned it. Thats me the map and geography nerd. Anyway it was to be one of the highlights of the trip. Largest dune basin in the world. 250 square miles of natural dunes in a lake basin. The next largest 8 square miles. All I can say is sand dunes never looked so cool. I cannot put all the pictures here so look at this and go check the travel album for the rest. I would go back to New Mexico just for that.
