Well with the formalities of work out of the way, now we could start the mini get away. Get the walking shoes ready, because there is a hell of a lot of it.
First the days started out foggy, from the 41st floor of our hotel you could not see the tops of some buildings and so this is the view from our room.

We head out for some breakfast and then start the trek to Macy's. I had never been there myself and heard they had quite the Christmas display. So we walk from 53rd to 34th street. They have very cool displays on the outside with all these animated elves and Christmas themed scenes. So far so good.
We go into the store. Not sure how many people remember the old Boston Store downtown with the multitudes of floors and slowly narrowing escalators. This is that on a much grander scale. 8 floors and 2 sub levels, original wooden escalators, just huge. So huge we got turned around quite a few times and then couldn't find the Santa display without asking. And we did find it and then we also found the line to get into it. It must have been really magical, but there was no way we were waiting in that line to see it.
We stepped outside and were greeted by the sun. Took the damp out and really made it nice. So hey we are on 34th street. Basically you turn 180 degrees from this picture of Macy's and bam! the Empire state building.
